Common Questions

What's the difference between assisted living and memory care?

Assisted living is for older adults who need help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication management but are cognitively independent. Memory care is a specialized program for those living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive conditions — with structured programming, secure environments, and specially trained staff. At A Comforting Home, residents can transition between levels of care without leaving the community.

What does a typical day look like for residents?

Every day includes chef-prepared meals, fitness and wellness programs, enrichment activities (art, music, cognitive games), social events, and plenty of time for personal pursuits. Structured cognitive wellness and memory engagement activities support physical, mental, and social well-being.

Is there a nurse on-site at all times?

Yes. A Comforting Home has a licensed nurse on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — not just on-call. Our well-trained care staff is also available around the clock to assist with daily needs, medication management, and any emergencies.

Can couples with different care needs live together?

Yes. One of the advantages of A Comforting Home is our care continuum. If one spouse needs assisted living and the other needs memory care, both can live in the same community. This means couples don't have to be separated when care needs change.

How do I know if it's time to consider senior living?

Common signs include difficulty managing medications, safety concerns at home, social isolation, caregiver burnout, or a recent hospitalization. We encourage families to tour before they feel they "need" to — understanding your options early makes the transition smoother when the time comes. Call us at 925.787.9589 to talk through your situation.

What is the cost of living at A Comforting Home?

Costs depend on the apartment size and level of care needed, and are personalized for each resident. We'd love to walk you through the details during a visit. Contact us at 925.787.9589 for a personalized quote.
